Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

The Journal of Advanced Materials in Health and Engineering (JAMHE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and responsible scholarly publishing. The journal expects all authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct throughout the submission, peer-review, editorial, and publication processes.


Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions at JAMHE are made independently and exclusively on the basis of:

  • relevance to the journal’s scope

Editorial decisions are not influenced by:

  • commercial interests
  • institutional affiliations
  • political considerations
  • sponsorship
  • nationality, ethnicity, gender, or religious background of authors

The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team maintain full editorial independence in all publication decisions.


Peer Review Integrity

JAMHE operates a rigorous fully double-anonymous peer-review system designed to ensure fairness, objectivity, confidentiality, and scientific quality.

All submitted manuscripts undergo:

  1. Initial editorial assessment
  2. Independent peer review by qualified experts
  3. Editorial evaluation and decision-making
  4. Revision stages where applicable
  5. Final editorial determination

Reviewers are expected to:

  • maintain confidentiality
  • provide objective and constructive evaluations
  • declare conflicts of interest
  • avoid misuse of unpublished information

The journal does not tolerate manipulation of the peer-review process in any form.


Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship must reflect substantial intellectual contribution to the submitted work.

All listed authors should have:

  • contributed significantly to the conception, design, analysis, or interpretation of the study
  • participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript
  • approved the final version of the manuscript
  • agreed to be accountable for the integrity and accuracy of the work

Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet authorship criteria should be appropriately acknowledged.

Ghost authorship, guest authorship, honorary authorship, and undisclosed authorship contributions are considered unethical publication practices.


Conflict of Interest Disclosure

Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could potentially influence the objectivity or interpretation of submitted research.

Potential conflicts of interest may include:

  • financial support or funding
  • consultancy relationships
  • employment affiliations
  • patent ownership
  • stock ownership
  • personal relationships
  • competing academic interests

All funding sources must be transparently disclosed within the manuscript.


Research Integrity and Scientific Misconduct

JAMHE does not tolerate scientific misconduct in any form.

Examples of misconduct include:

  • plagiarism
  • duplicate publication
  • redundant publication
  • data fabrication
  • data falsification
  • image manipulation
  • citation manipulation
  • unethical experimentation
  • peer-review manipulation

All manuscripts undergo editorial evaluation and plagiarism screening prior to peer review.

Where misconduct is suspected, the journal reserves the right to:

  • request clarification from authors
  • suspend editorial processing
  • reject submissions
  • notify affiliated institutions
  • retract published articles
  • issue corrections or editorial notices

Investigations are conducted in accordance with COPE recommendations and principles of due process and confidentiality.


Human and Animal Research Ethics

Research involving human participants or animal subjects must comply with internationally recognized ethical standards.

Manuscripts involving human participants must include:

  • institutional ethics approval
  • informed consent where applicable
  • compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki

Animal studies must demonstrate compliance with recognized institutional and international animal welfare regulations and ethical review procedures.

The journal reserves the right to reject studies lacking adequate ethical oversight or approval.


Clinical Trial Registration

Clinical trials must be prospectively registered in a publicly accessible and internationally recognized registry prior to participant enrollment.

Accepted registries include:

  • ClinicalTrials.gov
  • ISRCTN
  • ANZCTR
  • other recognized WHO-compliant registries

Registration numbers must be included within the submitted manuscript.


Artificial Intelligence and Generated Content

The use of artificial intelligence-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation must remain consistent with principles of scientific accountability and research integrity.

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  • the originality of submitted work
  • factual accuracy
  • data integrity
  • citation accuracy
  • scientific interpretation
  • ethical compliance

AI tools may not be listed as authors and should not replace human scientific oversight, interpretation, or accountability.


Data Transparency and Reproducibility

JAMHE strongly supports reproducibility, methodological transparency, and responsible data reporting.

Authors are encouraged to:

  • provide sufficient methodological detail
  • disclose analytical workflows
  • share datasets where appropriate
  • report limitations transparently
  • ensure reproducibility of computational and experimental methods

Studies involving artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational simulation, or predictive modeling should provide adequate technical detail regarding:

  • algorithms
  • validation procedures
  • software platforms
  • datasets
  • reproducibility approaches

Corrections, Retractions, and Editorial Notices

The journal is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record.

Where errors or concerns are identified post-publication, JAMHE may publish:

  • corrections
  • errata
  • expressions of concern
  • retractions

Retractions will be clearly identified and linked to the original publication in accordance with international publishing standards and COPE guidance.


Open Access and Copyright

JAMHE is a fully open-access journal dedicated to the unrestricted global dissemination of scientific knowledge.

All published content is made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication without subscription or access barriers.
