Writing Rules

The Journal of Emerging Clinical & Health Sciences (JECHS) is committed to publishing scientifically rigorous, innovative, and clinically relevant research that advances the fields of medicine, health sciences, public health, biomedical sciences, healthcare innovation, and translational research. Authors are expected to prepare manuscripts in accordance with the highest international standards of scholarly publishing, transparency, research integrity, and ethical conduct.

JECHS follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and internationally recognized reporting standards applicable to specific study designs.


Manuscript Preparation

General Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts should be prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).

  • A4 page size
  • 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides
  • Times New Roman, 12-point font
  • Double-spaced throughout
  • Continuous page numbering
  • Continuous line numbering recommended
  • SI units throughout
  • British or American English accepted, provided usage is consistent

Manuscript Categories

Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles present novel findings from clinical, laboratory, epidemiological, educational, or translational research.

Requirements

  • Structured Abstract: up to 300 words
  • Main Text: up to 6,000 words
  • References: no strict limit; authors should cite relevant literature appropriately
  • Figures/Tables: up to 10 combined

Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses

Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses should provide comprehensive and methodologically rigorous syntheses of existing evidence.

Requirements

  • Structured Abstract: up to 350 words
  • Main Text: up to 8,000 words
  • PRISMA Compliance Required
  • PRISMA Checklist Submission Required
  • Figures/Tables: up to 12 combined

Narrative Reviews

Narrative Reviews should provide authoritative and critical overviews of important topics.

Requirements

  • Abstract: up to 300 words
  • Main Text: up to 8,000 words
  • Figures/Tables: up to 10 combined

Clinical Trials

Clinical Trials must comply with CONSORT guidelines and be prospectively registered in a publicly accessible trial registry.

Case Reports

JECHS considers publication of exceptional case reports that provide significant educational, diagnostic, therapeutic, or scientific value.

  • Abstract: up to 250 words
  • Main Text: up to 2,500 words
  • CARE Checklist Recommended
  • Patient Consent Required

Short Communications

Brief reports of preliminary findings, innovations, pilot studies, or emerging concepts.

Requirements

  • Abstract: up to 200 words
  • Main Text: up to 2,000 words

Perspectives

Scholarly discussions addressing emerging issues, policy implications, healthcare innovation, or future directions.

Requirements

  • Up to 3,000 words

Editorials

Usually commissioned by the Editorial Board but may be considered upon invitation.


Letters to the Editor

Constructive scientific commentary relating to recently published articles or important issues within the journal's scope.

Requirements

  • Up to 1,000 words
  • Up to 15 references

Title Page Requirements

The title page must include:

  • Full manuscript title
  • Running title (maximum 60 characters)
  • Full author names
  • ORCID identifiers (recommended)
  • Institutional affiliations
  • Complete postal addresses
  • Corresponding author details
  • Email address of corresponding author

Abstract

Abstracts should summarize:

  • Background
  • Objectives
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions

Abstracts must not contain:

  • References
  • Figures
  • Tables
  • Undefined abbreviations

Keywords

Provide 3–8 keywords immediately following the abstract.

Authors are encouraged to use terms consistent with MeSH where applicable.


Ethical Requirements

Research involving human participants must include:

  • Institutional Review Board approval
  • Ethics approval number
  • Informed consent statement

Research involving animals must include:

  • Animal ethics approval
  • Compliance with international animal welfare standards

Reporting Guidelines

Authors should adhere to internationally recognized reporting standards, including:

  • CONSORT – Randomized Controlled Trials
  • PRISMA – Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
  • STROBE – Observational Studies
  • CARE – Case Reports
  • ARRIVE – Animal Studies
  • SPIRIT – Clinical Trial Protocols
  • CHEERS – Health Economic Evaluations

Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to provide a Data Availability Statement describing how data supporting the findings may be accessed.


Artificial Intelligence Disclosure

Authors must disclose the use of artificial intelligence tools in manuscript preparation, data analysis, image generation, or language editing.

AI tools may not be listed as authors.


References

JECHS follows the APA 7th Edition referencing style.

Authors should:

  • Ensure citation accuracy
  • Include DOI links whenever available
  • Cite primary literature whenever possible
  • Avoid excessive self-citation

Publication Ethics

JECHS maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding:
