Aims
The Journal of Global Epidemiology and Health Equity (JGEHE) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing epidemiologic evidence and health equity scholarship across global and local settings. The journal seeks to publish rigorous, innovative, and impactful research that enhances understanding of the distribution, determinants, consequences, prevention, and control of disease and health outcomes, with particular attention to inequities shaped by social, structural, environmental, economic, and policy factors.
The primary aims of the journal are to:
- Publish high-quality epidemiologic studies, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, meta-analyses, methods papers, implementation studies, and policy analyses relevant to population health and health equity.
- Provide a dedicated scholarly platform for research examining health disparities, social determinants of health, structural determinants, healthcare access, healthcare quality, and population-level interventions.
- Promote global and comparative epidemiology by encouraging submissions from diverse geographic, cultural, socioeconomic, and health-system contexts.
- Advance methodological transparency, reproducibility, responsible data use, and high-quality reporting across observational, experimental, quasi-experimental, mixed-methods, and evidence-synthesis research.
- Support scholarship that translates epidemiologic evidence into public health practice, clinical decision-making, health policy, and community-centered action.
- Uphold the highest standards of editorial independence, peer-review integrity, publication ethics, conflict-of-interest disclosure, and research transparency.
Scope
The journal welcomes original research and scholarly contributions across the broad fields of epidemiology, public health, health services research, implementation science, policy evaluation, and equity-focused population health research, including but not limited to the following areas:
Global and Comparative Epidemiology
- Disease burden, incidence, prevalence, mortality, morbidity, and risk-factor trends across countries and regions.
- Cross-national and regional comparisons of health outcomes, policies, and health systems.
- Global surveillance systems, registries, and population-based monitoring.
Health Equity and Social Determinants of Health
- Research examining inequities related to race, ethnicity, migration status, sex, gender, disability, income, education, occupation, and geography.
