Writing Rules

To ensure scientific rigor, transparency, and consistency, all manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Global Epidemiology and Health Equity (JGEHE) must comply with the following writing and reporting requirements.

Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear, professional, and grammatically correct English.
Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to seek professional language editing prior to submission.

Originality

Submissions must represent original work that has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
Duplicate publication, plagiarism, and unethical publication practices are strictly prohibited.

Reporting Standards

Authors must follow internationally recognized reporting guidelines appropriate to their study design, including:

COREQ for Qualitative Research

Ethical Requirements

Research involving human participants must include approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board.
Informed consent procedures must be clearly described where applicable.
Clinical trials must be registered in a recognized international trial registry and include the registration number within the manuscript.

Statistical Reporting

Authors should provide:

Appropriate effect estimates
Confidence intervals
Relevant p-values
Detailed descriptions of statistical methods
Model specifications and covariate adjustments
Sensitivity analyses where applicable

References

References must be formatted using the Vancouver citation style.
Citations should be numbered consecutively in the order of appearance within the text.
Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all references.

Tables and Figures

All tables and figures must be cited within the manuscript text.
Figures should be submitted in high-resolution format suitable for publication.
Tables and figures should include clear titles, legends, abbreviations, and explanatory notes sufficient for standalone interpretation.

Transparency and Disclosure

Authors must disclose:

Funding sources
Sponsor involvement
Conflicts of interest
Author contributions
Data availability information
Use of artificial intelligence or writing-support tools, where applicable

Data Sharing

JGEHE encourages authors to share datasets, analytical code, protocols, and supplementary materials whenever ethically, legally, and practically feasible. Any restrictions on data availability should be clearly stated.

Writing Style

Use precise, objective, and evidence-based language.
Avoid promotional, exaggerated, or unsupported claims.
Ensure consistency in terminology throughout the manuscript.
Define all abbreviations upon first use.
Present findings accurately and transparently, including limitations where relevant.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the manuscript being returned for technical revision prior to peer review.
