About the Journal

Sustainable Biomaterials & Bioengineering (SBME) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-impact interdisciplinary research at the convergence of sustainable biomaterials, bioengineering, biotechnology, and environmental innovation. Founded by Hala Publishing Group in Doha, Qatar, with its headquarters located in Tornado Tower, West Bay, the journal was established to bridge the gap between materials science, sustainability, and translational bioengineering through rigorous scientific research and globally relevant innovation.

The journal provides an advanced scholarly platform for the publication of original research, systematic reviews, translational investigations, perspectives, and emerging technologies focused on the development, characterisation, and application of sustainable, biocompatible, and environmentally responsible materials and systems. SBME welcomes contributions spanning sustainable biomaterials, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, nanobiotechnology, biofabrication, green synthesis, circular bioeconomy, environmental biotechnology, AI-driven biomaterials design, and advanced biomedical engineering technologies.

SBME operates under a rigorous double-blind peer review model and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of editorial integrity, publication ethics, scientific transparency, and research reproducibility. The journal adheres to the ethical principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and internationally recognised reporting standards including PRISMA, STROBE, CARE, and CONSORT where applicable.

All published content is made immediately and permanently accessible worldwide under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), ensuring unrestricted non-commercial access to scientific knowledge while supporting the global advancement of sustainable scientific innovation.

The journal’s editorial vision is centered on accelerating the translation of interdisciplinary discoveries into practical solutions that address global healthcare, environmental, industrial, and sustainability challenges. Through its international editorial leadership, rigorous peer review framework, and commitment to open science, Sustainable Biomaterials & Bioengineering aims to establish itself as a globally recognised scholarly resource and to pursue inclusion in leading international indexing databases including DOAJ, Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed Central, ROAD, BASE, and Google Scholar.
