Plagiarism Policy

Journal of AI in Clinical Innovation (JAICI)

The Journal of AI in Clinical Innovation (JAICI) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. We take plagiarism and unethical use of content very seriously.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the use of another author’s words, ideas, images, data, or code without proper attribution. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct plagiarism – copying text verbatim without citation.

  • Mosaic plagiarism – borrowing phrases, structure, or ideas without proper credit.

  • Self-plagiarism – reusing one’s own previously published material without disclosure.

  • Data or image manipulation – falsification, fabrication, or misrepresentation of results.

2. Screening

  • All submissions are screened with advanced plagiarism detection software prior to peer review.

  • Similarity reports are carefully evaluated by the editorial team, considering context and legitimate use of quotations, references, or standard methods descriptions.

3. Consequences

  • Minor overlap (e.g., methods or standard descriptions) may result in a request for revision and proper citation.

  • Significant plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or data fabrication will result in immediate rejection of the manuscript.

  • If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JAICI reserves the right to issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction in line with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

4. Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must ensure that all submitted work is original and appropriately cited.

  • Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini) may be used only with clear disclosure in the Methodssection.

  • AI systems cannot be listed as authors.

  • Authors must retain raw data and be prepared to provide it upon editorial request for verification.

5. Editorial & Reviewer Role

  • Reviewers are encouraged to report suspected plagiarism during peer review.

  • Editors will investigate all allegations following COPE best practices, ensuring fairness and confidentiality.

6. Statement of Compliance

By submitting to JAICI, authors confirm that their manuscript:

  • Is original and free of plagiarism.

  • Has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration by another journal.

  • Complies with all aspects of this policy.
