Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

The Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine & Dentistry Journal (PAMD-J) is committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity, publication ethics, and academic excellence. Our policies align with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and best practices in biomedical publishing.


1. Peer Review Policy

  • All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process.

  • Each manuscript is initially screened by the editorial office for scope, quality, originality, and compliance with ethical guidelines.

  • At least two independent reviewers evaluate manuscripts for scientific rigor, ethical compliance, and clinical relevance.

  • Final editorial decisions rest with the Editor-in-Chief.


2. Plagiarism & Research Misconduct

  • All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software.

  • Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate submissions, falsification, or data/image manipulation will result in immediate rejection.

  • If discovered after publication, the journal will issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction following COPE guidelines.


3. Conflicts of Interest

  • Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest.

  • Authors must include a Conflicts of Interest statement in their manuscript. If none exist: “Conflicts of Interest: None declared.”


4. Data Sharing & Transparency

  • Authors should include a Data Availability Statement describing where supporting data, code, or materials can be accessed.

  • Sensitive data involving children/adolescents must comply with GDPR, HIPAA, and local regulations.

  • Authors must retain original datasets and be prepared to provide them upon request.


5. Ethical Approval & Consent

  • All studies involving human participants (especially children and adolescents) must:

    • Obtain Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee approval.

    • Follow the Declaration of Helsinki.

    • Secure written informed consent from parents/guardians, and assent from children/adolescents when appropriate.

  • Clinical trials must include a registration number from a recognized registry (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov, ISRCTN).


6. Authorship Policy

  • Authorship must be based on substantial intellectual contribution, including:

    • Study design and conception.

    • Data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation.

    • Drafting or revising the manuscript.

    • Approval of the final version.

  • All listed authors must approve the submitted manuscript and agree to be accountable for its content.


7. Corrections, Retractions & Editorial Actions

  • Corrections – Issued for minor errors not affecting the study’s findings.

  • Retractions – Applied in cases of proven misconduct or major error invalidating conclusions.

  • Expressions of Concern – Published when investigations are ongoing.


8. Copyright & Open Access

  • PAMD-J is a fully open-access journal.

  • Articles are published under a Creative Commons license (CC BY or CC BY-NC).

  • Authors retain copyright, while granting the journal rights to publish, archive, and disseminate their work.


9. Confidentiality

  • Manuscripts, reviewer reports, and editorial communications are treated as strictly confidential.

  • Editors and reviewers may not share or use unpublished materials for personal or professional advantage.


10. Compliance Statement

By submitting to PAMD-J, authors confirm that their work:

  • Is original and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • Complies with ethical standards for pediatric/adolescent research.

  • Fully adheres to the policies outlined above.
