Reviewer Guidelines

The International Journal of Comprehensive Health, Medicine, & Dentistry (IJCHMD) recognizes that peer reviewers are integral to maintaining the journal’s scientific rigor, transparency, and ethical standards. This guide provides reviewers with clear expectations to ensure evaluations are thorough, constructive, and fair.


1. Invitation to Review

Accepting or Declining:
Upon receiving an invitation, reviewers will receive the manuscript title, abstract, and a secure link to accept or decline. Please respond within three (3) days to facilitate timely editorial decisions.

Access:
Once the invitation is accepted, reviewers will have full access to the manuscript and any supplementary files provided by the authors.


2. Conducting the Review

Confidentiality:
All manuscripts and accompanying data are strictly confidential. Do not discuss or share content with colleagues or students without prior permission from the editorial office.

Timeliness:
Reviews should be completed within two (2) weeks of accepting the invitation. If additional time is needed, contact the editorial office promptly.

Ethical Conduct:

  • Disclose any conflicts of interest (personal, professional, or financial).

  • Evaluate the work objectively, avoiding bias or personal criticism.

  • Notify the editor immediately if you suspect plagiarism, data manipulation, or ethical misconduct.


3. Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are asked to assess manuscripts based on the following dimensions:

  • Originality: Does the paper provide new insights or advance existing knowledge?

  • Significance: Is the topic relevant and impactful for the fields of health, medicine, and dentistry?

  • Methodological Rigor: Are the study design, analysis, and interpretation sound and appropriate?

  • Clarity and Structure: Is the manuscript well organized and clearly written?

  • Ethical Compliance: Does the study adhere to accepted research ethics and reporting standards?


4. Review Format

Each review should contain the following components:

  • Summary: Briefly restate the manuscript’s objectives, methods, and key findings.

  • Strengths: Highlight areas of excellence or innovation.

  • Weaknesses: Identify any limitations, methodological flaws, or issues with clarity.

  • Recommendations: Offer specific, actionable suggestions to improve the paper.

  • Recommendation for the Editor: Select one of the following outcomes:

    • Accept as is

    • Minor revisions required

    • Major revisions required

    • Reject (unsuitable for publication)

Confidential Comments to the Editor:
You may include remarks intended solely for the editorial team. These will not be shared with the authors.
